Rejected for a job you wanted? It’s a common story. You pour your heart into an application, imagining success, only to receive a disappointing rejection letter. It’s completely normal to feel downcast, question your abilities, and rethink your career path. But what if that rejection could lead you to something even greater? Recently, I applied for the position of assistant dean at the Colangelo College of Business at Grand Canyon University. Although I didn’t get the role, I realized it opened a door to something I genuinely care about: building Rawe Leadership Solutions.
The Initial Excitement
When I found out about the assistant dean position, the excitement was palpable. This role matched perfectly with my career goals and offered amazing opportunities for growth, impact, and mentorship. I diligently worked on my application, researched the college's strategic goals, and prepared thoroughly for the interview.
My enthusiasm was infectious. Friends and family were excited and hopeful, seeing this as a significant step forward in my career. They believed this would enhance my contributions to education and empower future leaders.
Yet, as the days dragged on without any communication, my excitement shifted to anxiety. I constantly checked my email and refreshed my inbox, convinced that news would arrive at any moment.
The Moment of Truth
When the notification finally appeared, it confirmed my worst fear: I wasn’t selected. A wave of disappointment washed over me. Questions raced through my mind. Was I lacking in qualifications? Did I falter during the interview? Was my application not up to par?
Overwhelmed, I took a moment to reflect. I realized I had fixated on one job and overlooked the exciting opportunities I was already cultivating.
Embracing the Bigger Picture
Instead of letting disappointment rule my thoughts, I shifted my focus to Rawe Leadership Solutions. This venture embodies my passion for leadership, mentorship, and empowering others to reach their potential.
Throughout my career, I’ve met many inspiring individuals who shaped my perspective on leadership. Rawe Leadership Solutions aims to turn those lessons into reality, offering a platform for people to learn and thrive.
Building this initiative requires patience, resilience, and hard work—qualities I have developed over the years. It allows me to create something aligned with my values and vision rather than conforming to someone else's expectations.
Shifting Focus to Rawe Leadership Solutions
While the allure of a stable position at an established institution is tempting, Rawe Leadership Solutions allows me the freedom to innovate. Here, I can explore new ideas and methods that will genuinely benefit aspiring leaders.
Creating Impact: Unlike traditional roles, I have the flexibility to design tailored programs that meet specific needs. For example, developing leadership workshops for professionals in various industries has been incredibly rewarding.
Expanding Possibilities: This rejection revealed avenues I had yet to explore. It's not just about landing a job but about empowering individuals to harness their potential. According to a recent survey, 54% of leaders feel unrecognised in their roles, highlighting the importance of effective leadership coaching.
Building Community: At Rawe Leadership Solutions, collaboration is key. Rather than working alone, I foster a supportive network where everyone can share insights. Networking can lead to future opportunities that might have been missed in a traditional setting.

Realizing My Worth Beyond Rejection
Facing rejection can be painful, especially when you invest so much effort. Yet, this experience has highlighted the importance of understanding my self-worth. My value isn’t dictated by external validation or the absence of it.
I started to reflect on my legacy. What do I want to leave behind? The answer became clear: I want to serve as a guide for others in their leadership journeys. It’s essential to create an environment where new ideas can flourish, and individuals feel supported.
Rather than viewing rejection as a failure, I now see it as a shift in direction. This journey has reinforced my dedication to building something meaningful.
Moving Forward with Purpose
With this renewed focus, I feel invigorated, wiser, and more resolved. My goal is not to attain a title, but to create a valuable experience for others. Each program I design through Rawe Leadership Solutions is a step toward that vision.
It's empowering to lead my own journey and cultivate a space where aspiring leaders can thrive. I want to mentor those seeking guidance and encouragement to pursue their dreams without hesitation.
Challenges will inevitably arise, but embracing leadership requires tackling obstacles head-on and finding actionable solutions that benefit both myself and the community I hope to serve.

The Power of Rejection in Growth
Rejection is a common part of any journey. It can hurt, but it's also a critical reminder that our paths can take unexpected turns, leading to new opportunities. Rather than chasing a role that may not align with my true passions, I now fully embrace the chance to develop Rawe Leadership Solutions.
This experience has taught me resilience and self-love, reaffirming that rejection does not diminish my worth. It has motivated me to focus on what truly fulfills me—helping others through effective leadership.
Whether you’re dealing with a similar situation or carving your own path, remember this: you are not defined by missed opportunities. Your true character shines through in how you respond. Embrace the exploration of what lies ahead; incredible experiences await you on your journey.
