What Have You Given to the World Today?

What have you given to the world today?

This question came to me in the form of an email today, and it got me thinking.

I think it's a great question, and one worth contemplating.

We live our lives, do our work, support our families, maybe even go to church faithfully.

We hang out with our friends and loved ones.

It's easy to get into the routine of daily life, but the questions still deserve to be asked.

Are we adding value to anyone?

Is the world better off because of our contributions?

Are the people we interact with better off because of what we contribute?

For me, on a personal level, I've always tried to add value.

I always try in my work.

I tried to add value as a Christian minister/pastor many years ago, but that didn't work out.

Now, I like to believe that what I'm doing is very valuable.

My work is to make the lives of people and the organizations they work for better.

I do this through talent optimization, executive coaching, leadership development (because everything rises or falls with leadership), teaching, and human resources consulting.

The people I've had the privilege to serve have given me great feedback, so I think it's working.

I believe that our places of work can be meaningful and rewarding if our work style is well-matched to the role.

And if we are well matched to our manager, team, and organizational culture.

The trick is figuring all that out.

Fortunately, I have some great tools that help organizations do just that.

The result is higher levels of employee engagement, job satisfaction, and productivity.

We've also seen greater levels of self-awareness on all levels.

Combined with our approach to coaching and training, and you have a team culture that is unstoppable.

So I'll keep doing what I'm doing, making the world a better place one life at a time.

What about you?

How are you adding to the world today?
